Happy Monday, hope you had a great weekend! Today we have an awesome guest post from my friend Jaclyn. She is truly an inspiration in so many ways. She has completely transformed her life and become a health & fitness nut like myself. Her story shows how you can do anything if you just put your mind to it. And talk about happiness – it’s pretty much impossible to not be happy when you’re around her, not only is she absolutely hilarious – she just exudes confidence & happiness in everything she does.
FROM JACLYN:
Growing up in an Italian household has been a great thing, minus the food intake. As a child I was never denied food and we always had sweets and treats after every meal. Everything was a “celebration” involving food and dessert. I was an active child involved in dance, basketball, and softball. I was always outside playing with the neighborhood kids, riding my bike, swimming in my pool, and having a fun time. After middle school, going into high school I began to gain weight. Then I became comfortable in a relationship and was on a gaining path. By the time I was 26, and had just about had it, a friend of mine suggested I try boot camp on the beach with Millions of Muscles (M.o.M) I was hesitant but then decided with a group of friends to give it a try. Let me tell you – back in September of 2011, if I knew how successful I would be with eating healthy and working out I would have done it years ago. You think how easy does it sound right? Working out, eating healthy, why didn’t I think of this?
With the help of the trainers at M.o.M I have lost 35 pounds, numerous inches, and 5% body fat. I have done things I never thought I could do. I won a boot camp challenge that involved 40 other boot campers and 3 teams. I tied for first place with the winner being the person with the most “points”. You were given points for attending classes, extra workouts, and answering fitness/health questions. I felt on top of the world! I won something that involved me busting ass and losing weight? I couldn’t believe it! As a tie, the winners were given a choice of a brand new iPad or free boot camp for 4 months. Of course I quickly chose FREE BOOT CAMP!
Since joining boot camp it has been amazing to see how far I have come. When I started I wasn’t able to do a push up, now I am in advanced boot camp, which required passing an intense fitness test. Recently I completed a Warrior Dash in Connecticut and have plans to complete a triathlon in September. I love to eat healthy. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy unhealthy food just as much, but let’s be realistic here, how often can I eat that and see results? I am upset when I am unable to attend boot camp or zumba. I really try not to miss, but its life and things come up, but in the end I really try to make time for ME.
Recently, I began working for M.o.M in their marketing and sales department. I love talking to new clients about how far I have come and the struggle I went through to get here. I can relate to them and it’s very easy for me to talk about boot camp and eating healthy coming from where I came from. This is my new healthy lifestyle and I am so thankful for it! Thanks to the trainers at M.o.M, my fellow boot campers and the support of my family and friends I am able to be successful in my weight loss journey. I want to keep going and never let this feeling of success go!
Thank you Mai-Lis for letting me be a guest blogger in your awesome blog. Keep the healthy recipes coming!
This is a photo (above) from the Shaun T. fitness event we attended a few weeks ago. Jaclyn completely rocked it of course, that is her in the upper right corner and I’m 2nd from the left in the bottom row.
Below is a picture of Jaclyn along with Abby (left) who was the other winner of the fitness challenge. In the center is Jodi, our amazing trainer & the founder of the infamous M.o.M.
Thanks for the post Jaclyn! I’ll see you soon out on the beach busting our asses, or shaking them in Zumba!
